Milbank offers early start date for new associates

Citing high demand from clients, Milbank told its incoming first-year associates Tuesday that they can start three weeks early on Aug. 24.
Milbank, which already increased associate salaries in 2026 and pledged special bonuses this summer, told new associates in a memo that they have until Monday, Aug. 10 to decide whether they prefer starting early or at the original start date of Sept. 14.
Milbank extended a similar offer to its first-year associates in 2024 but did not do so in 2025, according to a story by Law.com.
Milbank’s move reflects that even in a jittery economy, some elite law firms are nevertheless experiencing increasing client demand this year, according to Law.com.
